When not singing, Dana is married to Amanda Darwin (not a stage name) and they have two wonderful daughters. They make their home in the Greater Boston area. A 1983 graduate of Suffolk Law School in Boston, Dana has been practicing law with a private firm based in Natick, Mass. since 1987, where he concentrates on real estate law. His favorite non-musical activities are ice skating, playing hockey and coaching his daughters.
Dana's Musical Pedigree
Now a Second Tenor by nature, Dana began studying music by taking a few piano lessons at age four, but because of hand size (or the lack thereof) he didn't get serious about piano lessons until age five. Dana's singing/keyboard career began with a pop band he started in fifth grade with some school friends from the Quincy School (which, along with nearly everything else, has since gone condo). To the best of his memory, the band learned one song: "A Taste of Honey", which it was never hired to perform publicly.
He sang in school choruses and madrigal groups throughout his school years in Quincy, Massachusetts and in high school he sang with the Massachusetts All-State and All New England Festival Choruses. Dana played keyboards for his high school stage band.
In college, he sang under Paul Zeller with the Dartmouth College Glee Club and with the Dartmouth Aires, including appearances on "Good Morning America" and HBO (before anybody had cable or knew what that was). After college, he helped co-found (with Patrick Rafter) The Bosstones a cappella group, which actively performed from 1981 through 1997 where he also first sang with Fred Jordan.
Dana is the newest addition to The Works, having joined in 2003, after a musical hiatus of several years, thus, his new nickname, "The Rookie".
